Before making an application to join the guild, prospective new members should read the following.

If you have any questions regarding the guild charter, you can make a post in the Application Questions forum, here.

Who Are We

To understand who we are, you should understand where we are from. We are a small, tight-knit group of friends that have played together in MMO games since the late 1990's. We've gained new friends since the early days, and are always keen to welcome new people into the family.

Are we the guild for you?

Since we've been around the block somewhat, a lot of us could be considered more 'mature' gamers in that we're mostly over 25. While we kid around in guildchat, we don't 'sp34k l33t0rz' (unless we're being sarcastic).

We understand the incredible importance of a guild's reputation within an MMO, and will take every means necessary to ensure that our name is not tarnished. Our members are expected to represent the Guild at all times - and do their best to promote the reputation of the guild wherever possible.

We're a small, and above all close-knit guild, and we intend to stay that way. While we enjoy a challenge, we're not a guild that you could expect to raid with every night, and many of our members are firmly rooted in the 'social' end of the gaming sphere.

That said, we're a highly skilled bunch of gamers. We've played pretty much every MMORPG that's been released, and seen the endgame in all of them that weren't so bad we cancelled our accounts at the end of the first free month. We pride ourselves in being able to do things better, more efficiently, and with smaller numbers than other guilds. However - we don't know everything, and we're always learning new stuff.

We're allergic to guild drama. We've been playing these games for getting on for 10 years. We've seen EVERY argument going. We've seen the introduction of DKP systems, we've helped to organise server-wide raiding calendars, we've seen arguments about wether or not we should become a 'raiding guild' - in short, we've been around the block, and know what we need to do to make the guild succesful. Disagreements obviously happen from time to time - but we're all old friends, and we know where to draw the line in a discussion.

Are you the member for us?

Like what you've seen so far? Had fun grouping with some Angry Goblin members in game? Here's what you need to know to take your application further. Firstly, be aware that getting full membership will require two things on your behalf - time and effort. We are not, and never will be a guild that recruits people just to swell numbers. We'll never invite you 5 minutes after you join one of our groups or raids. We'll never stand in a zone, offering membership to anyone. Becoming part of the clan takes time.

Firstly, we'd expect you to get to know a few of our members - over the space of at least a couple of weeks. For you to be accepted as a trial member of the guild, at least two full members are going to have to offer to sponsor you. This is a big deal to them, they're putting their status and reputation within the guild on the line for you - so don't expect a guildmember you only met last night to offer to sponsor you.

Once you have your two sponsors, firstly sign up for a forum account here, and send an email to officers@angrygoblin.com outlining your player name, class and level, the names of the two full Angry Goblin members that have agreed to sponsor you and...... (here comes the sticky part)........we'd like you to spend some time writing down why you would like to join the guild. We're not looking for War and Peace here - just a bit more information about you. If English isn't your first language, then send it in your native tongue - we have English, German, French, Danish and Swedish speakers amongst the guild and they can translate your words (it's worth noting however that guildspeak IS conducted in English, so if you're not comfortable with your language skills, talk it over with one of your sponsors. We also have a Ventrilo server for members to use - but this is by no means compulsory - don't worry if your spoken English skills aren't great).

Yes, we know that most guilds wouldn't expect you to do this, but The Cult of the Angry Goblin is not most guilds. We have a duty to our existing members that every new person we take on board fits the guild. Sure, we'll miss out on recruiting a few great people this way - but we'll do our damndest to make sure we don't make the mistake of letting someone in who isn't right.

OK, so you've got your sponsors, made your forums account, and sent in your mail to officers@angrygoblin.com - what happens now?

As soon as the officers see fit (generally after checking that none of the current members has a problem with you being given a trial) you'll be invited to the guild as an initiate for a period of one month. At the end of this month, a vote will be taken amongst the full members which will have one of the following outcomes - you'll be accepted as a junior member of the guild, you'll be asked to leave the guild, or you'll be given a one month extension to your trial period.

If you're lucky enough to make the cut, and be promoted to Junior Member, you'll then have to wait 3 months to be promoted to a Full Member and be able to vote on and sponsor new members.
